Mogao bih da ga pošaljem deputy uredniku Ognjanoviću. :) Možda bi pre prošao u TRASHu. Ipak ima fokus na književnost.

David Fincher Eyes Dragon Tattoo
Carey Mulligan for Lisbeth Salander?
Source: New York Magazine

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The books are still flying out of the bookstores, and the Swedish film trilogy has just begun its UK release. But lest we forget, Stieg Larsson's Millennium trilogy of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest, has also caught Hollywood's attention.

After some difficult rights negotiations with the still-in-flux Larsson estate, Sony inked a deal for the English-language versions late last year, with Scott Rudin producing and Steve Zaillian having a crack at the first screenplay. And now, according to NY Magazine's Vulture, David Fincher is circling the project. Having delighted the Sony brass with his Facebook founders story The Social Network, it sounds as if Dragon Tattoo is his for the asking.

Also mentioned in Vulture's piece, connected to the heroine role of snarky Asperger's hacker genius Lisbeth Salander is current hot ticket Carey Mulligan, said to be top of the producers' wish list (although it's pointed out that practically every young actress in Hollywood and the UK would kill for the role).

Like Let Me In, this sounds at the moment like a bit of a redundant exercise, following so hot on the heels of a lauded and widely seen original version. But the source material is super-strong, and the involvement of Fincher, back on the crime territory he made his own with Seven and Zodiac, makes this something to look out for regardless.

The Swedish The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, directed by Niels Arden Oplev and starring Michael Nyqvist and Noomi Rapace, is out now (click here for Empire's five star review). The paperback of The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest is published in the UK on April 1st.

But that's not the only project he's got vying for his attention. According to Variety, the busy director is also attached to Sony’s press drama Pawn Sacrifice.

Charting the life of American chess champ and cultural icon Bobby Fischer, Pawn will follow the period up to his historic world championship victory against Boris Spassky.

And if that wasn’t enough, there’s also word that he’s still trying to get his new, CG-flavoured version of sexy/violent sci-fi ‘toon Heavy Metal back up and running. Kindly make up your own "chess pawn or 'toon porn?" joke here.

The American remake of "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" is now set to be the next film of David Fincher ("Se7en," "Fight Club") reports The Playlist.

The first in the "Millennium" trilogy based on late Swedish author Stieg Larsson's international bestsellers, the story follows disgraced journalist Mikael Blomqvist and misunderstood rebellious female hacker Lisbeth Salander investigating the 40-year-old disappearance of a industrialist's niece on a remote island. Their investigations uncover religious killings, Nazism, rape, child abuse and murder.

All three books have already been adapted into a Swedish language film trilogy with the first, 'Dragon Tattoo', having hit theaters in the US, UK and Australia in recent weeks to very good reviews and strong sales for a non-English language film. The next two films are scheduled for release later in the year.

Carey Mulligan has been tipped for the Salander role but the actress herself claims no-one has been in contact. Fincher apparently wants an unknown for the very complex Salander character. Scott Rudin will produce and Steve Zaillian ("Schindler's List," "American Gangster") will pen the script with shooting to kick off around October once Fincher wraps press for his upcoming drama "The Social Network".

Earlier this month there was talk Fincher was to helm the 1970s-set chess drama "Pawn Sacrifice" with Tobey Maguire, however its now been revealed Fincher only met with the filmmakers to advise them rather than take on a directorial capacity.

David Fincher’s upcoming remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo could lead to another collaboration with Brad Pitt, who starred in his films Seven, Fight Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

If you’re a fan of the Swedish movie, based on the late Stieg Larsson’s bestselling "Millenium Trilogy", the recent casting of movie stars Pitt and Oscar-nominee Carey Mulligan might give you pause. For Pitt and Fincher fans, however, this is likely great news: You could argue that few directors besides Guy Ritchie have gotten better performances out of the heartthrob-turned-serious actor over the years.

IndieWire reports that Pitt is a strong bet to play the main protagonist, a disgraced reporter who travels to Sweden to solve the disappearance of a young woman. Mulligan, reported in The Times as having landed the role opposite, would play Lisbeth Salander, a gifted computer hacker with a punk-rock fashion sense.

The same article states that Mulligan may have signed a three-film deal covering all of Larsson’s Millennium books, which could pay her up to £10M. The actress was nominated for playing the lead role in An Education, and is said to have won the approval of Larsson’s family.

To date, the book series has sold 25 million copies worldwide. Meanwhile, the original film, directed by Niels Arden Opley, has been a critical and commercial hit worldwide, grossing more than six times its budget. The second and third films in the trilogy, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest, are scheduled to be released later this year.

Steve Zaillian is said to be writing the adaptation for Fincher, but a source close to the project claims he hasn’t turned in a script yet, and that final casting hasn’t been determined. Interestingly, despite the involvement of Fincher and Pitt, the remake is reported to be set in Sweden, which could just mean the premise will involve more globe-trotting than Europe-trotting, and that sounds sort of compelling.

Pre-production on David Fincher's upcoming film adaptation of Stieg Larsson's international mega-hit novel "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" is in full swing with the director currently in Stockholm going over locations reports The Playlist.

Fincher wants a "European look" for the film and is planning to shoot all the exteriors in Sweden. Due to tax incentives though, studio work will be done in other countries.

Surprisingly Fincher also wants to keep Swedish locations intact instead of shifting the action to the U.S. like so many remakes. The move will draw further comparisons with the already released and acclaimed Swedish-language film trilogy which shot in several of the locations mentioned in Larsson's novels.

The main locations though, Hedestad and Hedeby Island, are fictional and were shot around Gnesta for the Swedish film. Fincher will likely choose a different part of the country for his shoot.

The Swedish shoot also brings up the question of language - will all the characters talk in English or only some, and will Lisbeth Salander or Mikael Blomqvist be changed into being British or American characters?

Steven Zaillian is still finishing the script and casting has yet to be locked down. Shooting will kick off in October.

U glavim ulogama: Noomi Rapace i Michael Nyqvist.

Filmska trilogija Milenijum, koju čine dela Muškarci koji mrze žene, Devojčica koja se igrala vatrom i Kula od karata, zasnovana je na trilogiji romana švedskog autora Stiega Larssona.

Next up, Vulture reports that South African rapper Yo-Landi Vi$$er, the bleached-blonde and mullet-sporting singer involved with the band Die Antwoord, is apparently a favourite of director David Fincher for the role of Lisbeth Salander in his remake of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo".

I think so.

So, we had an interesting tip come in from an anonymous commenter on our story yesterday about South African rapper Yo-Landi Vi$$er being linked to the role that every actress in Hollywood is after, Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher's "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo."

Between the spammers and legit feedback we do occasionally get some solid tips that filter through. For example, Jeremy Renner being considered for Paul Thomas Anderson's untitled Scientology film was something that started in our comments section. So when a comment appeared from a reader suggesting they had an in on the casting of 'Dragon Tattoo,' and mentioning that actress Rooney Mara -- who's got a key role in Fincher's upcoming "The Social Network," and was the lead in the recent "Nightmare on Elm Street" -- was the frontrunner to play Salander we decided to look into it.

They wrote: "Rooney Mara is the secret lead contender... she steals her scenes in 'The Social Network' particularly the opening scene with Jesse Eisenberg. A safe bet for Fincher because this girl has to be in all THREE of the Dragon Tattoo movies..." We took this bit of info and ran Mara's name up the flagpole with our sources, and they confirmed that the commenter was indeed correct, and she is indeed a contender for the role.

However, while the commenter might be right, nothing is for sure, and to repeat what we said yesterday, Fincher's not done casting yet, and there are still plenty of names in the mix (and really, pretty much every actress under 30 in Hollywood is going for the part). But we'll keep a close eye on further developments , and at the very least it's one more name to add to your 'Who Will Play Lisbeth Salander?' office sweepstakes. This writer drew Kathy Bates. He's not holding out much hope.

In an interview with The Wrap, Sony Pictures Entertainment co-chairman Amy Pascal says there's no intention to tone down the darkness of their planned American film adaptation of Stieg Larsson's novel "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and its two sequels.

"That's why we hired David Fincher. We're going to really do this, in all their glory. Otherwise why do it? They're very R-rated movies. It's the shock of what's really going on underneath the surface of society. If you don't actually make good on that, you haven't told the story" says Pascal.

At present they are working out the production timeline for the trilogy - "I’m going to try to get these movies out as fast as possible. But, you know, we’ll have the first one next Christmas. And hopefully, the next two as quick as I can get them. We’re trying to figure that out now."

Of course the other big question, will Fincher direct "The Girl Who Played with Fire" and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" as well? "Yeah, I would like it. I’m hoping he will. And he’s hoping he will."

Sources confirm that Daniel Craig, the man best known as James Bond, will next play the scruffy muckraker Mikael Blomkvist in the Hollywood adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Deadline first announced the longtime rumor. Craig, 42, has signed on as the middle-aged journalist in David Fincher’s suspense-filled trilogy, the first of which is set to be released Dec. 21, 2011. Now Fincher can focus his attention on casting his heroine, the diminutive hacker Lisbeth Salander. Screen tests for the highly-coveted role are expected to happen this week.

David Fincher has denied claims that either he or Sony have made plans to shoot the three books in "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" trilogy back-to-back or are already in early prep on any sequels.

The "Zodiac" and "Fight Club" helmer told MTV News over the weekend that "No, there's no plans for that right now. You got to make one that people want to see a sequel to before you can make a sequel".

He also confirmed his intent to shoot and set the film in Sweden, specifically "Stockholm. Uppsala. In the north". There is also no plans to move the setting to the U.S. either - "You have to. What, are you going to put it in Seattle?… Seattle noir [laughter]".

"Fish Tank" star Katie Jarvis has joined the list of contenders to play Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher's English-language remake of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" reports Deadline.

Fincher tested a number of actresses this past week and unlike previous rounds, each of the candidates came in full costume and auditioned with Daniel Craig. The site lists Jarvis and the already announced Rooney Mara, Sarah Snook, Sophie Lowe and Lea Seydoux.

Yet they also list Ellen Page, Mia Wasikowska and Emily Browning whom it was thought had previously dropped out of the running.

It's expected an announcement of the casting is due very soon and rumors suggest Mara as being Fincher's personal choice for the role.

Despite the first film being over a year away, Deadline reports that Sony Pictures and scribe Steve Zaillian have begun talks for the scribe to adapt "The Girl Who Played With Fire", the second entry in Stieg Larsson's Millennium trilogy.

Zaillian penned the American adaptation of the first film, "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo", which begins shooting this fall with director David Fincher and producer Scott Rudin. Zaillian is said to still be tweaking the 'Tattoo' script in the lead-up to the shoot.

According to the site, Sony wants to move quickly on getting 'Fire' into production so as to fit Daniel Craig's potentially busy schedule should "Bond 23" or a "Cowboys and Aliens" sequel suddenly become a major priority.

The Swedish-language film adaptation of the books, released in Europe last year, is currently in limited release in the U.S.

We're still without one Lisbeth Salander for David Fincher's US remake/adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo -- though rumor has it that the fight is down to Rooney Mara and Emily Browning -- but at least the Vanger family is starting to take shape.

The story focuses on a journalist named Mikael Blomkvist (to be played by Daniel Craig) who, just as he faces a potentially career-killing drama, is offered a job as a private, historical detective. Years ago, a young woman in the Vanger family went missing, and now the head of the family, Henrik Vanger, wants the mystery solved once and for all. The twist -- his family are all suspects.

Fincher and co. have just started to flesh out the Vangers, starting with one of the principal suspects -- Martin Vanger.

According to Variety, Stellan Skarsgard is in negotiations to play Martin in Fincher's adaptation of the best-selling novel. The actor says: "I have met Fincher, I want to work with him, he wants to work with me. I have had a concrete offer and now we are in negotiations." He goes on to explain that the contract would extend from September to March, with most of the film being shot in Stockholm, with some studio work in the US and perhaps some location work elsewhere.

As far as choices go, Fincher couldn't have done better. Skarsgard is a perfect choice for the role, and it takes no effort to imagine him tackling the path Martin's character takes. Added bonus -- he's Swedish!

But oh, the Sweden thing. I just can't really wrap my head around this idea to keep the story in Sweden, and start to bring on Swedish and international actors. That really just cuts away any BS and states: "US audiences hate subtitles so we're gonna copy the movie in English." Yes, Fincher is a great filmmaker and I'm dying to see what he'd do visually, but right now, the production is quite spoiled with a suffocating feeling of redundancy. We've even heard reports that Fincher wants his cast practicing their Swedish accents, so we won't even be free of the inevitable distracting accent slips.

Any thoughts on who should play the rest of the Vangers? Ignoring accents and nationality, I'd love to see Christopher Plummer play Henrik, but that's as far as my musing has stretched.
